The workmanship of this Paulino Bernabe in true near mint condition, is unbelievable high with beautiful decorations. The sound is extremely well balanced with crispy, clear basses and sonorous strong trebles. She projects a very loud, powerful, clear, and focused volume with a low, percussive sustain as desired by the most demanding flamenco guitarists. The quality of the first grade old aged spruce and cypress are of the highest level one can get these days. This is how a flamenco guitar should sound. It's almost impossible to do better.

The Spanish luthier Paulino Bernabé (1932-2007) was renowned for his impeccable workmanship and innovations in design and materials, to produce instruments of great power and clarity.  At the age of seventeen, Paulino Bernabe began initial guitar lessons with Daniel Fortea, a renowned guitarist and former student of Tarrega, but chose instrument making as a vocation when he entered the workshop of José Ramirez in 1954 at the General Margallo street in Madrid. With the collaborative efforts of several builders, such as Bernabe, Contreras, Manzanero, and others, who would later establish workshops of their own, Ramirez began to produce instruments of high quality and in large numbers, resulting in a sort of "Golden Age" during the 1960's. During the years that Andres Segovia started playing Ramirez guitars, Paulino was head artisan of the Jose Ramirez workshop. Ramirez guitars of the 1960s bearing PB initials still are highly sought after by collectors. In 1969, Paulino Bernabe left the Ramirez workshop to set up his own workshop in Madrid at the Loto street. Paulino not only was a very fine craftsman, but also experimented heavily with the bracing design and alternative woods. The results of many of these innovations form the basis of Bernabe's guitars to the present day. Because of these qualities his classical guitars are widely used by many concert guitarists and recording artists, such the late Narciso Yepes. Bernabe is included in Summerfield's list of the finest guitar makers since 1800, his work is avidly sought after by players and collectors alike. In 1974, he received the Gold Medal at the International Crafts Exhibition in Munich.
